Check in your bios settings and make sure you don't have your CPU temp threshold set too low. If I remember, there are some unrealistic low settings for warning and shut down temps. If this is not the problem, then you may want to update the BIOS. If that doesn't help then maybe you should back off on your CPU speed and see if it helps.

Anyway, as far as I know, you CAN put thermal paste on video cards, but I know they're also designed to endure higher heat. So what might be considered hot on your CPU might just be average on your GPU.

My AMD64 Newcastle 3400+ runs high 30's idle and mid-40's full load air cooled in the blistering heat of Arizona (for which it was 116F yesterday).
Luckily we have A/C

Hmmm, not sure if i'm the right person to give advice.
My old cpu used to overheat. I opened the case and left a desktop fan on it, lol.
Might be an idea but then again maybe not.
Plenty of good advice posted previously ^^^^ Try that, lol.

Turn off Cool N Quiet, it causes problems with overclocking.

Another thing about cooling, you want to have your fans all running in the best intake/outtake configuration. You don't want to have all outtake fans, because then you won't be getting much cool air sucked into the case.

Well I have two intake 120mm (damn things are LOUD) in front of my case sucking in air and blowing it through my radiator. Then I have an out take 120mm mounted on the back and an 80mm out take fan on the top. I think I may need some more of that coolant stuff. I had to drain my system twice (leaks) and I put the same water+coolant back into the system. I also still have a leak somewhere near the front of my case. There will be like a drop on the floor of the case every few days. I can not seem to find the source of that leak.

I have a housefan pointed at my computer. ATi video card's fan crapped out. CPU hits a peak of 45 C and I have to shut GW off for awhile. Of course I also shut it down when the card hits 70 C.
Summer is a killer.
